Mission Union Pier: The Infestation, Part I

What's the best way to announce that this is YOUR town? Well according to Avery and Connor, it's to wake up at the butt crack of dawn...rip off your clothes...and run around the compound like a couple of wild badgers (buckeyes)!

Mission Union Pier: The Arrival

All parties in the Lauchermeyer Wagon were a bit nervous to arrive at a place called the Elephant Walk Cottages. We weren't aware of it...and if we were...trust me...it would have put us more on the edge, but there is a movie from waaaaay back when called 'Elephant Walk'. Here is a summary of this fine flick...tell me you wouldn't raise an eyebrow

John Wiley takes his new bride, Ruth to "Elephant Walk", a tea plantation in Ceylon which happens to be on the path where elephants roam. Soon Ruth discovers the truth about John's plantation and the effect it has on him. She then tries to leave him with the help of Dick but a cholera epidemic breaks, followed by elephants destroying the plantation. Ummmm.....whaaaaat?

Turns out everything was fine...actually, quite nice. Here is a visual tour of the grounds. We stayed in cottage 4 which had 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, and a main room/dining room/kitchen all in one. Having a deck to grill out on and relax was also a great bonus.

Mission Union Pier: The Preparation

The Lauchard and Pottmeyer families decided on a dual family vacation, at an undiscovered location. Derrick, Stacey and Avery drove up to Columbus on Thursday evening so that we could get an early start on the 5 hour road trip. While the parents made some dinner and prepared luggage, dishes, food and more...Avery and Connor took care of the important stuff...MENTAL PREPARATION!

Get ready boys...9 a.m. departure comes sooner than you think! Union Pier...here we come!

Captain's Blog: Roar! A caged animal!

We didn't put him in there, but once the trap was sprung...we couldn't release him back into the wild.

Pupdate: Remember us?

We are still here. It seems as though we are just fading into the background with all of these kids popping up around here, but we are determined to continue our 15 minutes!

Latest news: I have a torn ACL and am confined to this cage until surgery...then I have 6 weeks of cage after that! Crap.

Latest news: I'm being pulled around by my neck by this dang red head dude...why did they have to give him that leash?

Walking Man...Walk On

Connor is seemingly in love with walking Mya. Have leash? Will travel.

Lauchard family? or Safari specialists?

Sunday morning Zoo excursion and we continue to find new stuff to do. A boat ride on a hot day was just what we needed. We saw new monkeys, ducks, lizards and more. After an afternoon nap, we went to the pool again (no pictures sorry) to cap off a fun Sunday.

And...I'm 'aaaallllll dooonnnne'!

Captain's Blog: Clippers Game

To say it was interesting would not justify the Friday night baseball action. Let's just say that the crowd was not paying attention to the players, but rather my son...who proceeded to fall through a railing on a 3 foot high platform with his pregnant Mom chasing after him. The crowds response? Like watching a rogue firework setting fire to a huge tree....

Peanut Post: Vacation Part IV

To wrap up the weekend, Papa created a meat parade on the grill. We ate like kings after enjoying a day in the pool. And of course...what day would be complete without an hour long 4 wheeler ride?
