As a Good Friend Said: 'Your Barn Doors Are Open!'

There's still work to be done, but I wanted to get a shot of the barn doors hanging in the entryway. The timetable to get them up was by Friday, October 1 so that we can hide Connor's birthday present in the room. There is still work to be done on them...staining, varnish coating and handles. Thanks so much to Doug and his Dad for the terrific work on the doors!

Captain's Blog: It's been a few weeks...

Construction did not halt...exercise did. However it will be well worth it when the finishing touches happen on our new entryway. The ugly floor will remain until some time next year, but envision a nice hardwood flowing through the entry to the dining room.

Connor has been a big help, measuring and painting. The staircase needs finished, trim needs put up and a special touch to the room will soon be added. Here is a sneak peak at the progress. For previous pictures, see this blog entry.

Captain's Blog: Homemade Applesauce

What do you need to make homemade applesauce? Well, not too much. You need apples, water, cinnamon, a little brown sugar and a red headed helper to get that peelin done! Connor lasted 2 apples before he found out that reversing the crank made Dad all flustered.

Peanut Post: dancin...dancin...DANCING!

How do you roll at a wedding? Well, dis be how I dooz it!

Bean Bytes: Week 26

What's happening Lacey? Where you been? Well, who cares, you're back! And you're Fierce! Baby doing well...kicking up a storm, getting ready to come out and show Connor what's up in this house!

Peanut Post: A Hard Working Fellow (part 2)

More pictures from the farm!

What do you think I am fascinated by?

If you didn't guess this, then you don't know me!

Peanut Post: A Hard Working Fellow (part 1)

Mom and I went down to stay with Mimi and Papa for just over a week. It was a lot of fun, but it's also a lot of work. I got more chores and learned what they mean by 'there's not enough time in a day'.

Gotta get the tractor out for bushoggin and moving big things.

For quick trips back and forth, I jump on the wheel-wheel (4wheeler).

Time to pick tomatoes!

Can you say 'eggplant'?

I need a break!

Bean Bytes: Week 25

Sorry all, no pictures this week either...there's no Lacey to be found around the house!

The little Bean and Mom are doing very well and getting some serious help from Papa and Mimi. Bean is measuring to a rutabega...13.5 inches.

What's new:

Past Weekend:
- Dad drove down quite early on Saturday morning to surprise Lacey and Connor...mission accomplished
- Papa let Dad dispose of some molding and construction materials while picking up some firewood and hay...thanks Papa!
- Dad picked up his new barn doors that were put together by Doug Hoffman and his dad...they are WONDERFUL...THANKS GUYS!
- Dad primed the new drywall finish that was done last week

This Week:
- Lacey and Connor come home on Wednesday...get it in gear Dad, you're running out of time!

Bean Bytes: Week 23 & 24

No pictures from these weeks. The baby is doing well, but mom has been ordered to rest a lot from the doctor. Connor and Mom left Dad for the stars of the country. Many thanks to Mimi and Papa for helping us out during this trying 2010.

Congratulations Tiff & Matt!

On the docket last weekend was the marriage of Lacey's beautiful cousin and her fiance (now husband obviously) Matt. Fantastic weather, beautiful ceremony, gorgeous reception...their families really pulled it off! We want to congratulate both of them and wish them a wonderful marriage. Connor said 'thanks for the boogey-oogey-oogey'!

Peanut Post: Back Down South

Thanks Uncle Nick for my awesome 4 wheeler ride! We went for miles and miles and at the end...I still wasn't finished. It's hard to see me, but I'm on that 4 wheeler!
