We haven't done any posts on the basement progress so that we could focus on "get'n er done!" So, here it is...still needs some touches as far as wall hangings and such, but we like it!
Along the way...Connor and I got tired and took a bit of a snooze.
During Christmas, the Lauchard family went to Marietta, went to Columbus, went to Springfield, came back to Columbus, and phew...sat down and took a breather. The breather lasted all of about 10 minutes, then back to work on the basement! So that is why I haven't posted our Christmas photos...here goes!
Marietta Christmas (thanks Pottmeyer family!)
Columbus Christmas (thanks Ramage family!)
Please pause for a Connor yawn....
Finally...the Lauchard Christmas (thanks Nan and Papa!)
Thanks Uncle Nick, Aunt Brandy and Cousin Baleigh for the awesome truck, trailer and nye-nye (4-wheeler). Mom and Dad screwed up and it's still in Churchtown! I'm missing it!
Drywall is done, walls are primed, door is 80% painted. Still need to do some framing for a door to hide the scary shelving in the back, pick the colors (arghh...so hard!), paint and switch out the outlets and switches. Countdown to New Year's is in ON!
Scary claws made yet another appearance at the great Xmas party that Doug and Sarah hosted on Saturday. I would say that it was a 50% split between bringing joy and havoc...I of course post only the havoc! :-)
Our Friday jam session was awesome! Wait, you don't think we're a very good band? Give us a break...we have about 3 years of experience between us and don't have any training...but we ROCK!
Demolition is complete. I have found a couple of concerning things underneath and behind the wayne's coating (always happens with remodels). The walls were BEAT UP, and I mean BEEEAAAT UP. That means the wayne's coating was put there somewhat recently to try and add value when the home went to market...lots of patching to do. Also a little mold on the drywall in the back...which is why they left the de-humidifier...little work to do there too.
What's really great is that in the picture below, the brown piece of wood above and behind the pool table revealed a nice surprise! Upon opening it, I found out that is where all of the fireplace ash gets dumped from the first floor. Herb (the previous owner), thought it would be a good idea to board it all up and just fill it...for like 10 years! That's a lot of ash and I have only removed a portion with the shop-vac. Dang it HERB!
This is the current project with a completion goal of pre-New Year's. There is a lot of work to do, although we aren't changing too much. The Wayne's coating will be removed, the cheap trim will be removed and we will paint everything and change out all of the outlets as well.
Alexis was baptized on the Friday evening following Thanksgiving. She was an excellent little girl and played the part of sweet and innocent to a tee...
Connor was wanting to hang out in the balcony where the choir sits...
And Connor made nice with Aaron (Connor never makes nice)...
Nan and Papa came to my house to hang out with me for Thanksgiving. We had a really good time playing, dancing, eating, and going to the Zoo to see all of the lights! It was really cold, so please excuse my wet lip...it's chapstick...yeah, chapstick...that's the ticket!
